Perfect your techniques with one of our recipes below.
Use the handy tips along the way...
Scones
You will need just 225g McDougalls Self Raising Flour, 50g butter, 25g caster sugar, 150ml milk and a pinch of salt, egg to glaze.
Preheat oven 200°C/180°C Fan/ Gas Mark 6.
Mix the flour and salt together in a bowl. Then rub the butter into the mixture until you have a crumb like texture. Now mix in your sugar.
The flour's already been sifted for you!
Add the milk and mix to form a soft dough and turn out onto a floured surface, knead lightly.
Don't knead too much as this can create flat and heavy scones.
Roll out to just over 1cm in thickness and cut into 6.5cm diameter rounds.
Arrange on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg or milk, bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
For an extra twist why not add 50g dried frit when you add in your sugar!
