This doesn't taste like tuna, but I like the consistency. It doesn't look great when you first use it, but overcome that and add it to sweetcorn and seasoning and it's ok. It's not like tuna but it makes a quick, low calorie lunch. I will buy it again.
I was hopeful as I'd been craving a meat-free tuna product for a while, and finally saw this! But the smell was off, the taste was nothing like tuna, and the texture just wasn't there. If this was halfway decent I could've been a big purchaser.
I was going to use can of this in a Salade Niçoise. When I opened it, I thought it had gone off. The "Spring Water" was a gloopy mess. The product itself had a gelatinous texture and on tasting it, I really thought I had opened a can of cat food by mistake. I am not a vegetarian/vegan, but I am trying to cut down on animal products. I am very open-minded to alternatives to meat and fish but really, this product needs to be withdrawn. This can ended up in the bin, which is horrible waste of food, but nothing could redeem it.
Its just not great and looks (and possibly tastes) like cat food.
Weve been swapping to a lot of different meat substitutes recently so eat plenty of Quorn and Linda McCartney products and thought wed give this a shot. Tuna aside, it both looks and smells like cat food and the taste is a bit like gone off hummus. 0/10 would not recommend.
Awful smell, spongy texture.
