Vegetarian Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 4 dashes of pepper
  • 1 litre of vegetable stock
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 110 g of butter
  • 2 dashes of salt
  • 60 g of plain flour

Method

  1. Step 1

    Melt butter and add the onions. Cook over a medium-high heat until onions and butter are browned. Stir in garlic and cook a few more minutes.
  2. Step 2

    Reduce heat to medium and stir in flour with a fork. Add vegetable stock a spoonful at a time, stirring constantly until desired thickness is reached.
  3. Step 3

    Simmer on low 5 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Step 4

    Sieve the onions if you prefer a smoother consistency. Serve hot, or you can save for later and put it in the freezer.
