Take a twist on tradition and celebrate Hogmanay in style with these smoked, curry fishcakes. The perfect bitesize addition to your party buffet.

Ingredients

  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 75 g of breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 dash of vegetable oil
  • 1 red chilli
  • 110 g of mashed potato
  • 0.5 tsp of curry powder
  • 75 g of plain flour
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 110 g of smoked haddock
  • 1 lime, juice only

Method

  1. Step 1

    In a bowl mix together the smoked haddock, mashed potatoes, chilli, lime juice and curry powder until smooth
  2. Step 2

    Season with salt & pepper to taste
  3. Step 3

    Shape 20 small round fish cakes from the mixture
  4. Step 4

    Place the beaten egg into one bowl and the flour and breadcrumbs into another bowl
  5. Step 5

    Take each fish cake and dip into the egg bowl first and then into the flour and breadcrumbs. Ensure each fish cake is evenly coated
  6. Step 6

    Chill the fish cakes for 30 mins, then shallow fry each side until golden brown
  7. Step 7

    Serve and enjoy.
