Spice up your morning routine with this Savoury Porridge. It's like a mix between risotto and ramen, and we can't get enough!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 500ml vegetable stock
  • 1 teaspoon white miso (optional, but tastes delicious - you could use 1/2 teaspoon Marmite/Yeast extract instead)
  • 100g jumbo porridge oats
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Method

  1. Step 1

    Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Step 2

    Add the porridge oats and toast gently for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant.
  3. Step 3

    Gradually pour in the vegetable stock, stirring constantly, until fully incorporated.
  4. Step 4

    Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender but still have a slight bite.
  5. Step 5

    Stir in the miso (or Marmite/Yeast extract), salt, and pepper.
  6. Step 6

    Serve immediately, topped with your favourite toppings such as chopped spring onions, sesame seeds, a drizzle of soy sauce, or a fried egg.
