Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets (approx. 120g–150g each)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika (for a beautiful golden colour)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon (half for juice, half cut into wedges for serving)
  • Optional: a pinch of dried parsley or dill.

Method

  • Step 1

Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with kitchen paper. This is the secret to getting that crispy exterior.
  • Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Rub the mixture generously over the top and sides of the fillets.
  • Step 3

Place the salmon fillets in the air fryer basket. For the best results, leave a little space between them so the hot air can circulate freely. Place them skin-side down if your fillets have skin.
  • Step 4

Cook at 200°C for 7 to 9 minutes. 7 minutes: For a slightly translucent, medium-cooked centre. 9 minutes: For a firm, well-done finish.
  • Step 5

The salmon is ready when it flakes easily with a fork and has reached an internal temperature of 60-63°C.
  • Step 6

Lift the fillets out carefully (they will be tender!) and serve immediately with rice or noodles, fresh lemon wedges and your favourite steamed greens.
