Ingredients

  • 300g of beef frying steak, cut into thin strips
  • 3 tablespoons of cornflour
  • 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil
  • 3 tablespoons of sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of white wine vinegar or lime juice
  • A pinch of dried chilli flakes for an extra kick

Method

  • Step 1

Start by putting your beef strips into a bowl and tossing them with the cornflour until every piece is well coated and looks a bit dusty. This is what gives the beef its signature crunch. Drizzle over the oil and give it one more mix.
  • Step 2

Spread the beef out in the air fryer basket, trying not to let the pieces overlap too much. You might need to do this in two batches if your air fryer is on the smaller side. Cook at 200°C for about 8 to 10 minutes, giving the basket a good shake halfway through until the beef is dark, crispy, and firm.
  • Step 3

While the beef is crisping up, mix the sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, and chilli flakes in a large bowl.
  • Step 4

As soon as the beef is ready, tip it straight from the air fryer into the sauce bowl. Give it a quick toss so the heat from the beef warms the sauce and everything gets a lovely sticky coating.
  • Step 5

Serve it up immediately over some fluffy rice or noodles while it is still nice and crunchy.
