Ingredients

  • 3 large Maris Piper or King Edward potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil
  • A good pinch of salt

Method

  • Step 1

Start by peeling your potatoes and cutting them into chips about the thickness of your finger. Try to keep them a similar size so they all finish cooking at the same time.
  • Step 2

Give the chips a good rinse under the cold tap to get rid of the extra starch, then pat them completely dry with a clean tea towel. This is the secret to making sure they don't go soggy.
  • Step 3

Put your dry chips into a bowl, drizzle over the oil, and toss them around until every chip has a bit of a shine.
  • Step 4

Tip them into the air fryer basket and cook at 190°C for 20 minutes. Every five minutes or so, give the basket a really good shake. This keeps them moving and ensures they get that lovely golden colour on every side.
  • Step 5

Once they look crisp and sound a bit hollow when they hit the basket, they are ready. Tip them into a bowl, sprinkle over a bit of salt while they are still hot, and serve them straight away.
