No good in a pie
I tried this in my electric deep pie maker. It makes two pies at a time. This was far too runny for my pie machine and boiled inside the pie creating steam and pushing itself out of the pie. Im sure it does not need to be this runny. It is quite tasty to be honest and I will probably try and mix it with some dry, fried mince. As a tin is more than enough for two pies, I will then be able to make four pies that are of a more acceptable standard.
It\x27s fine, but don\x27t have high expectations.
I wasn’t expecting great deal from tinned meat, and it’s not bad, but it’s not great either. It’s mostly gravy, which makes it very bad value IMO. What meat there is is chewy, although not gristly. It’s very bland, & that’s from someone who likes bland food!! Not a criticism, just an observation. I can see it would be useful as a base, but you'll want to bulk it out with lots of other things to make a meal of it & flavour of some sort.
Always been sloppy
In response to the previous reviews I just want to confirm this has always been a saucy tin of food. I remember 30 years ago I would have it poured over a plate of chips for my tea as a boy. Best way to eat it for me.
yum in spag Bol!
I use this instead of fresh/frozen mince in things like stews, spaghetti bolognese and in other pasta sauces/bakes. It a staple in my store cupboard. Easy, quick and tasty! What's not to like! If Morrisons did an own brand I'd buy that!
Good quick mince
I have purchased this from various outlets for a long time. Always found it to be satisfactory generally. I do agree with the other reviewer it can appear to be a bit sloppy however that is the nature it seems of this one, its not a big concern for myself. I have tried another supermarkets own version and did not enjoy that one. If I had any suggestion it would simply be to perhaps offer a 200g can of this as well for those living alone who perhaps only want a little bit of mince to go with the rest of their meal. When I've cooked mine I mix it into some instant mash along with a few bits of veg, its lovely like that.
Not as expected
Although this item was tasty enough i found it to be a bit 'sloppy'. I like my mince to be a bit more thicker in consistency. I wouldnt buy this again.
