Morrisons The Best Block Series 020 Vacqueyras

The grapes for this wine come from a subregion of the Vacqueyras cru called Garrigues Sud which roughly translates as southern scrubland. This apt description is a reference to the dry, arid soils that play host to a wide variety of garrigue herbs, low lying shrubs, and of course vines. Stand in the vineyards on a warm day and the wind washes through with notes of rosemary, lavender and roasted thyme. Make no mistake, this is a full bodied wine with intense flavours of peppery cassis, strawberry compote and damson. It never feels too heavy though as the herbaceous aromatics lend a wonderful freshness that lifts the finish and leaves you reaching for that second glass.
