Luís Vieira started building up what is now the Parras Wines group in 1998 with the founding of the group's bulk wine company. Parras Vinhos is currently headquartered in a former faience factory in Alcobaça, where the group's bottling unit - Goanvi Bottling - is also located.

The climate is Mediterranean, but the influence of the River Tejo makes the seasons milder. The vineyards receive around 2,800 hours of sunlight per year, and the average annual rainfall is 750mm. Soils are sandy, and the vineyards lie on the flood plains of the river.
