1 Hunt on the ground for a couple of sturdy leaves.
2 Carefully push the stalk of one leaf through the middle of the other until a tiny bit is poking out the other side and it stands up like a sail.
3 Take your boat to some shallow water and float it on the surface.
4 Blow through your smoothie straw onto the leafy sail to get it moving. Shout "ahoy there" and watch it go.
5 Ask your friend to make their own and have a race. Don't forget to recycle your straws at the finish line.
Fun fact: The leaves of Amazonian giant waterlilies can grow up to three metres wide. That's probably big enough for you to sit on.
