2 medium eggs, 120ml of milk, a little butter and a dash of imagination!
What you'll need:
2 medium eggs
120ml of milk
2 x 18cm (7 inch) round cake tins or a tin for cupcakes

A little butter for greasing
Greaseproof paper or 12 cupcake cases
A wire cooling rack
Your favourite fillings and toppings
To make an amazing Sponge Cake or tasty Cupcakes:
Cooking appliances vary.
These instructions are given as a guide.
1. Pre-heat your oven to approximately 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.
2. Grease with the butter and line the two round cake tins with the greaseproof paper (the butter will help the paper stick to the tin). Or, if you're making cupcakes, place 12 cases in a cupcake tin.
3. In your mixing bowl, empty in the sachet of sponge mix, add the eggs and the milk.
4. Mix with a hand mixer or electric whisk until the mixture is smooth.
5. Divide the mixture equally between the two cake tins or spoon it into the cupcake cases.
6. For the cakes, just pop them in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until risen and golden. If you're making cupcakes they'll only need 12-15 minutes.
7. When they're ready, take them out and leave them to cool down on your wire rack.
8. Sandwich cakes together with your favourite fillings or decorate your cupcakes with icing and sprinkles!
Top tip:
Always take your cakes out of the tin to cool; otherwise they'll carry on cooking and won't taste their best.

sponge mix great
I use this to whip up a banana loaf turns out great and gets my kids eating bananas and walnuts
Disgusting
Bought as a quick make but the mix tastes absolutely disgusting! I mixed it up and it foamed - quick taste test it tasted like it was made from 80% sherbet. Oven was on anyway otherwise it'd have gone in the bin at that point. Cooked it doesn't taste as bad but definitely still has fizzy sherbet taste. Checked ingredients because only thing I could think "maybe they've used bicarbonate of soda and accidentally tipped the jar in" - no bicarb listed so who knows. One thing for sure, won't buy that again!
horrible taste
chalky taste, we didn't like it at all! it ended up in bin!
Not the best
sponge starts to bubble up before it goes in oven. Almost like it has yeast in it! Sponge was very light but has far too much vanilla in it
4 stars
It's basically just the flour and sugar, you'll still need eggs butter and milk or other liquid. Makes a good sponge.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
For a shops own brand cake mix i was really pleasantly surprised at the finished cake. Light, soft and well risen. Had a lot of compliments about it. Will definitely buy it again
