Crab Paste store cupboard stand by

So at 55p a jar don't expect this to contain more than 20% red crab meat! I usually add a tablespoon of mayonnaise a teaspoon of tomato puree, fresh lemon juice and some white pepper to produce an acceptable crab pate (great on toast) or use to make a crab sandwich with the addition of some fresh white crabmeat. It's hard to find this old fashioned crab paste in any other supermarket and it's a great standby to have in the store cupboard. I've even added it to a fish soup to give it some body and flavour

Great for the price

I have seen the bad reviews for this product, doesn't taste like crab, it tastes like the brown meat of crab just less fishy, just a fraction of the price of crab!!!! I love this on toast for breakfast, for extra indulgence, throw a poached egg on top. Please don't discontinue!!!

Misleading Label Name

Labelled "Crab Paste", actually haddock frame mince - leftovers from processing! with crab and sprat. Main ingredient "Haddock frame mince" 35%.Don't be misled by the name on the front of the jar! YUK
