Product information
To give Duvel an extra level of bitterness and explosiveness, a third hop called Citra was added. Citra has a fresh aromatic taste with hints of grapefruit, tropical fruit, and notes of citrus.
The refermentation in the bottle and a long maturation, guarantees a pure character, delicate effervescence and a pleasant, sweet taste of alcohol. The aromatic Citra hop is grown in the Yakima Valley (USA). This third hop is added during the lagering process, which makes it a dry-hopped brew.
The long maturation and qualitative craftmanship make this beer slow brewed to perfection.
Food Recommendations:
The fresh taste of the Citra goes well with salty sea flavours such as salmon, tuna, shrimp and mussels. If you don’t like fish, matured cheese such as Red Leicester and cheddars also balance the Duvel Tripel Hop flavour. The citrus notes combine well with green vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, and Brussel sprouts.
Duvel Tripel hop Citra is best served at a temperature of 5°C. To bring out the full aromas, Duvel Tripel hop Citra should be poured at an angle of 45° in the iconic Tulip glass. The foam preferably starts in the middle of the red D and fills the glass, stopping at 1cm from the top.
Anno 1871
Duvel is being brewed by the fourth generation of the Moortgat family. Even though Duvel is a Belgian beer, the founder was inspired by English ales. Albert Moortgat himself selected a specific Scottish yeast strain, which is still used today. Duvel started experimenting with the third hop variety in 2007. Citra was the second version, which launched in 2012. Later Duvel Moortgat searched for the ultimate hop, with Citra as the clear winner.

Lovely beer, and very lively.
Take care when pouring chilled into a warmer glass, as its liveliness may form an alarmingly active head. Better chill the glass, beforehand.
What a Beer!!
Fantastic Belgian IPA!!
Belgium\x27s Finest
This is what a Belgian IPA should aim for as a high watermark. The nose is perfect in that it proclaims the coming citrus hops yet with a chorus of spicy notes from the Belgian yeasts that make this beer so playful.
BRILLIANT ALE JUST BRILLIANT!
Duvel is one of the best bottled Ales going, and this is top of the tree. It's a strong one, and is very lively - so have a glass ready when opening! Remember to get the best out of this, you'll need to leave a drop in the bottle and swirl it around to dissolve the sediment. Then add to glass. It's meant to be cloudy, and it adds to the taste. Just beware of the strength (9.5%) as it's very easy to drink. Hic. Well worth the money if you like a good Ale!
Champagne Beer
Think of Champagne but a better taste and less acidic. Could be the best drink in history!
Nice beer but beware of deliveries
A great summer beer, light, hoppy and strong. Just be aware though that at least in my experience around 50% of the time they leak when delivered - the beer is quite lively and the bottle cap doesn't seem to be up to keeping the beer in when it's been jostled about in a van.
