This quick cottage pie makes a fantastic meal for toddlers in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 80 g of piccolo beef bolognese sauce
  • 25 g of frozen peas
  • 1 tsp of butter
  • 2 handfuls of cheddar cheese
  • 1 sweet potato, medium
  • 1 tsp of olive oil
  • 50 g of lean beef mince

Method

  1. Step 1

    To make the topping, pierce the sweet potato and microwave on a high power for 4-6 minutes until cooked through. You can alternatively peel and chop the sweet potato and steam for 6-8 minutes until soft.
  2. Step 2

    While the potato is cooking. Heat the oil in a frying pan and brown off the meat, once it has browned, reduce the heat and add the peas, and the sauce, continuing cooking for a few minutes until the meat has cooked through. Once cooked through pour the meat filling into a ramekin.
  3. Step 3

    Pre-heat the grill on the oven to medium. Scoop out the flesh of the microwaved potato and mash in a bowl with the butter, and dollop on top of the bolognaise sauce. Pat down and score with a fork, and sprinkle over the grated cheese.
  4. Step 4

    Place in the pre-heated grill oven and cook for 5-6 minutes until golden on top. Serve immediately.
