Ingredients

  • 10 g of vinegar
  • 20 g of honey
  • 30 g of reduced salt soy sauce
  • 2 tsps of cornflour
  • 40 g of sesame seeds
  • 200 g of raw king prawns
  • 6 slices of slices white bread
  • 1 egg white, Use the yolk for brushing the prawn toast with before shallow frying
  • 10 g of ginger
  • 4 g of oil
  • 0.5 tsps of chinese five spice, optional

Method

  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.
  2. Step 2

Blend the prawns with the cornflour, egg white, ginger and chinese five spice with a touch of salt.
  3. Step 3

Spread the prawn mousse onto the bread, then brush the bread in the beaten egg yolk. Next place the bread onto a plate of sesame seeds, pushing down to coat it well. It’s a good idea to put down about 10g of sesame seeds on the plate each time you dip a new slice of bread into them.
  4. Step 4

Heat your oil in a frying pan. Place the sesame prawn toast face down onto the frying pan and cook till golden brown, after 2-3 minutes turn over and cook till golden brown, once cooked, place back into the oven and cook for 5-10 minutes, while you cook the rest of the slices.
  5. Step 5

Make dressing/dip by mixing the ingredients together.
  6. Step 6

Cut the toasts into quarters and serve with the dip and if eating as a light lunch enjoy with a crisp salad.
