Sauce facts
Famed for its bold flavours, liberal use of chilli and unique szechuan peppercorn, the sichuan province of southwestern china is where this dish originates from. The Szechuan pepper is native to the province and is sure to be loved by adventurous spice lovers. The Chinese food scene in the west was once mainly cantonese-inspired, but the spicy cuisine of the Sichuan province has now gained popularity and reshaped our understanding of Chinese food. In our rendition of Szechuan sauce, that characteristic zingy tingling shines through to delightfully mouthwatering effects.

Serves 2-3 with rice, noodles, prawn crackers or Asian greens.
As appliances may vary, these are guidelines only.

- Add a handful of diced fresh chilli to really kick up the heat level.
