Not advertised product!
Just a warning, if you buy this item, which is advertised as a gift set, both in the pictures and in the description you will not receive what you pay for. Still a great whiskey, but if you want the bottle on its own then buy it from almost anywhere else for far cheaper than the gift set price.
brilliant
Having bought our first bottle while in Skye, we are happy we can buy again from Morrisons. Although would have been worth a trip back...
Excellent!
I was given a bottle as Xmas gift. I was very surprised by its taste. I like the balanced smoky flavour and all the after tastes this excellent product fills your mouth with. Really mesmerising. At 25A£ it's really a steal and not to be missed. But its quality justifies even a higher price.
Best I've tried so far.
Now tried Springbank 10 yr old, Highland Park 12 yr old, Talsker 10 yr old, Talisker Storm & Talisker Skye. They're all good but Talisker Skye is the single malt whisky for me. Flavours include smoky oak, honey, pepper, a little bit of peat, etc. It's pretty complex so you're bound to recognise flavours I've not mentioned. The 1 star reviewer must have had a contaminated bottle, if that's possible. Maybe they just don't know what they're talking about, cos this is a truly great whisky.
Ignore the One Star Review
This is an excellent single malt, recommended to anyone who likes their whisky smoky and peaty. In terms of flavour complexity that is without match in my opinion. The one star reviewer has marked it down because of his own personal taste, or lack of it, and is clearly not a whisky drinker, he can't even spell it!
Smoked meats
I agree with the one star review there is a slight medicinal note which comes from peated whisky, may be a lesson learnt about personal taste that they do not like peat smoke in their whisky and should stay away from Islay and Islands malts. Personally everything I would want from a lightly smoked malt there is the typical Talisker peppery taste on the tongue with sweet smoke aftertaste that reminds me of smoked meats. Only marked down to 4 as does not have the same bite as the 10 year old which is similar price before discount, Best advice is don't buy single malts just because they are marked down if you don't know the regional variations.
