A storecupboard favourite from now on!
This is a handy little meal to keep in. The packet suggests you put in chicken, red pepper, potatoes, spinach, onion and chopped tomatoes. The first time I made this I didn’t have red peppers or spinach to hand so I omitted them and it tasted delicious. I think you could add other stuff such as butternut squash, sweet potatoe, baby corn etc too. I like my sauces really quite thick and I have seen a few reviews which say it’s watery, so I’m assuming its the amount of veggies, meat juices or type of tinned tomatoes used making it that way, in that case nothing a bit of cornflour can’t solve. I think adding some mixed lentils would thicken it even more and add some nice texture too. The finished dish is lovely and flavoursome, really tomatoey and just the right amount of spice for me - not bland, enough to just feel the spices on the tongue, but not hot hot in the slightest. It’s ideal to keep in because the base ingredients are things I always have day to day I.e. potatoes, chopped tomatoes, chicken and onion, and it’s so quick to put together and can be left cooking for hours.
tasted of nothing
awful. baffled at how this has gained good reviews. followed the instructions to a tee and it was watery and tasteless.
So easy to do smells nice and looks nice but waaaay to salty when I checked the salt on the packet I was very shocked to see how much was actually in there which was a shame as I wont be using it again even tho it tasted very nice the salt levels were just to high
mix it up
Ive made this with chicken breast, thighs, and lamb neck fillet and all came out really well. Id recommend thighs or lamb as the breast dried out considerably. Ive done it all sorts of ways, with extras, without the potatoes, without the spinach etc and theyve all been wolfed down by the fussy teen. Its a good hearty spicy curry, makes the whole house smell yummy and it makes plenty to keep for next day too. One of the cupboard staples in my house
I stuck to the ingredients and instructions but found it watery and the potatoes unnecessary. However my partner loved it I preferred it when I made it previously with butternut squash instead of potatoes and left the spinach out but thats my personal taste.
you can leave the potatoes out, it's enough with just chicken and veg. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's quite salty. Might be a bit much for some people but I enjoyed it.
