History
The history of "CANTINA DI SOAVE" began in 1898. Nowadays it is one of oldest and biggest wine-producer in Italy, very well known for its quality and reliability. We are absolute leader with VERONA-wines (Soave, Bardolino, Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone, etc) and other VENETO-wines (Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot). Our philosophy is: "From vine, to grape, to bottle". The vineyards are located in the area of Verona (Veneto) and cover an area of 6,000 hectares, 70% Doc and Docg
Regional Information
Veneto is a wine region in north-eastern Italy, one of a group of three highly productive Italian regions known collectively as the Venezie and the biggest DOC producer of the three. Soave is located in the renowned viticultural area around Verona, a medieval village with 15th-century wall and the splendour of the 10th-century castle that dominates the town

Vinification Details
1st fermentation: the manual harvest takes place at the end of September, the grapes are gently pressed and then let in steel tanks for the fermentation at 18/20°C for 3 weeks. 2nd fermentation called "Ripasso": The fresh wine then goes through the unique ¿ripasso¿ process, wherein it is passed through the must of Amarone. This second maceration promotes the extraction both of tannins, which give this wine its longevity, and of the rich dried-fruit aromatics of Amarone

Rather disappointed

Im afraid it is both thin and ungenerous. To be a Ripasso it is extremely thin on the nose. You need to search hard to find any Ripasso notes. The same goes with the mouthfeel and aftertaste. You would expect something more from something branded as the Best. Im sorry to say, but even with the discount it isnt worth its price.

Good value ripasso

Had this a few times. Last years vintage was better but it is still a good value ripasso with subtle dry fruit flavours.

ok

Quite a light bodied wine. Not my idea of a wine for grilled steak. Wine was fair and fruity, I would give it 6 out of 10 and therefore wouldnt be looking to spend more than six pounds so its underweight and not a buy recommendation for me.

Disappointing

With five star reviews I thought I'd give it a try .... it was smooth enough, but a little thin, at the price OK for a Valpolicella, however, there was not a hint of the Amarone skins that it is associated with. I have tried others where the flavour from the skins has been far more prominent and the wine has more depth to it. SAD!!

one of the best Italian wines I have tasted lately

excellent, not harsh, easy to drink. bought it to serve with Duck Ragu & pasta after being advised to try it on BBC Saturday Kitchen. I love it. will definitely buy it again.

Ridiculously priced

For Ripasso fans this is exceptional value at £6.49. As a consumer I love it, as a shareholder I am wondering where the profit margin is here?
