History
Cantine San Marzano was established in 1962, when 19 vine growers from San Marzano di San Giuseppe, whose families had farmed the land for generations, joined forces to maximise their efforts. Today, Cantine San Marzano brings together some 1,200 vine growers and has over 1,500 hectares of vineyards.

Regional Information
The Apulia region makes up the south-eastern corner of Italy. Located between two seas the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian the vineyards are situated on land where vines and olive trees flourish side by side. The vineyard's soils and the Mediterranean terroir play a fundamental role in the production of the wines. The climate is extreme, with droughts, frosts and the sirocco winds, all providing challenges to the talented winemakers.

Let it breathe

Lovely wine, worthy of tasting if you like sweet, less acidic fruit-forward wines. I enjoyed it and found it also improved further after having a chance to breathe. It sits close to Negroamoro in terms fruit sweetness. I prefer the taste of darker fruits in winter so I'd opt for Negroamaro at this time. Both are lovely wines.
