How to make the perfect cupcakes
Cooking appliances vary.
These instructions are given as a guide.
1. Pre-heat your oven to 170°C/ fan 150°C/gas mark 3.
2. Place your cupcake cases into a cupcake tray, ready to fill.
3. Now, empty the cupcake mix into a mixing bowl and add the egg and water.
4. Using an electric mixer, whisk the mixture together until it's combined and smooth. This should take about a minute.
5. Next, spoon the mixture into the cupcake cases, dividing it as equally as you can.
6. Place the tray in the centre of your oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until your cakes are risen and springy.
7. When they're ready, take your cupcakes out of the oven and leave them to cool on a wire rack.
8. While they're cooling, using an electric mixer, beat 60g of softened unsalted butter with the chocolate flavoured icing mix until it's smooth and creamy.
9. Once the cakes have completely cooled, spread the icing on the top, sprinkle with the chocolate curls and serve. Then just try not to eat them all at once!
Top tip
Not sure if your cupcakes are cooked? Lightly press on the top of one - if it springs back into shape, it's ready. If not, give them a little bit longer.
