Brand Marketing

Identity by Journey's End focuses on ethically and sustainably producing top-quality wines, and having fun while doing so.

At Journey's End - the Gabb family winery, working with the nearby communities and respecting the environment and local wildlife is as much a part of our identity as the delicious wines we produce. Our solar-powered winery thrives under the African sun, whilst our own little army of bees are busy pollenating the flowers on the vines. Land set down to native plant life provides a safe haven for Egyptian geese, blue cranes and eagle owls who are pretty good at pest control too!

Identity’s unique location, overlooking False Bay, means the vineyards are blessed with a cooling ocean breeze, delivering fresh, zippy acidity and natural elegance to a range of every-day, great value, approachable wines that are true to their terroir, and true to nature.

History

The Gabb family purchased their first vineyards in South Africa in 1995. Since then, they have been wholly committed to sustainably and ethically producing excellent wines for all occasions. The vineyards grow on the Schapenberg hills, blessed with 350 million year old decomposed granite soils some of the most prestigious terroir in South Africa, and a unique micro climate. As well as incredible views, these vineyards benefit from the cooling south easterly wind known locally as the ‘Cape Doctor'.

Regional Information

The success of the wine region stems from the near-perfect growing conditions that the area experiences as a Coastal Region. With consistently warm temperatures throughout the year, along with a cooling ocean influence, the vineyards have both the heat and breeze to ensure balanced wines. While the heat allows for ripe, structured wines, the breeze ensures sufficient acidity in both all the wines.

Dietary Information (ingredients and allergens may be subject to change, so it is important you check the labels supplied in each delivery)

Contains Sulphur Dioxide/Sulphites

Tasting Notes

The wine has a bright hue with a golden straw colour. It displays a refreshing nose of bright pear and yellow apple with subtle citrus notes. A medium-bodied wine with great palate tension. Crisp apple and chalky citrus are infused with mild layers of Crème Brulé. The flavours are vibrant, and the finish refined.

Features

A fruit-forward wine that lets the natural flavour of the grapes sing.

Vinification Details

Grapes were handpicked and delivered to the cellar early morning. After the grapes were hand sorted the bunches were whole bunch pressed to ensure good quality free run juice. Half of the total blend was “wild fermented”. The juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, a percentage of the final wine was racked into barrels for 6 months, with some of the final blend undergoing malolactic fermentation to add complexity.
