White piquepoul regained its former glory in the 1920s, during the first gathering of white producers from Pinet. Producers from Pinet and neighboring towns then bet on this native grape variety and replanted it. A winning bet since from the 1980s Picpoul de Pinet wine crossed the Channel to become the star of French whites in the United Kingdom, to the point of still exporting a third of production there today.
