Product Information
The world's most popular premium port - fruity, full-bodied and fabulous. And, with its beautiful ruby colouring, remarkably clean aroma and mellow, medium-sweet plummy deliciousness, it remains the one to beat. Try with posh dark chocolate.
More about this product;
First made in 1969 and still the benchmark for all reserve ports, this Cockburn's is a genuine modern classic. Almost certainly the bottle most people are thinking of when anyone mentions the word port, it is packed with huge amounts of velvety dried fruit and plum flavours. All this wrapped in a rich, mellow texture and smooth tannin structure, which goes down superbly after any meal. It is, of course, almost tailor-made for the cheeseboard, but the adventurous can enjoy with roasted almonds or walnuts and squares of rich, dark chocolate for a simple but elegant dessert.
Brand Marketing
Cockburn's, one of the greatest names in Port, led the development of vineyards in Portugal's Upper Douro valley in the 19th and 20th centuries. The company is owned by the Symington family, Port producers for over 125 years.
History
Cockburn's, founded in 1815 by two Scottish brothers Robert and John Cockburn, is one of the greatest and most beloved names in Port. With a long history of questioning the 'rules', Cockburn's was a pioneer in producing Port from the remote Douro Superior and was instrumental in recovering the iconic Port grape variety Touriga Nacional from almost certain extinction. The Cockburn’s style reflects the special hot and dry climatic conditions of this Douro Sub-region giving a unique style and quality to all Cockburn's Ports.

Vinification Details
Produced from wines selected for their richness and concentration from the finest vineyards in the Upper Douro, Special Reserve is matured in oak vats for up to four years before being bottled. This longer wood-ageing gives its full-bodied palate a distinctive dry finish, making it the benchmark for all Reserve Ports.
