Product Information

Crisp and intensely fruity, this Sauvignon Blanc is a New Zealand star. This single wine did more to secure New Zealand's reputation as an international heavyweight than any other. Elegant, crisp, perfect and still a head-turner.

More about this product;

In wine circles they still speak of the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc in hushed tones. When it hit the market a decade ago it flew off the shelves so quickly it was simply impossible to get hold of. In the intervening years the Cloudy Bay folks have bumped up the tonnage of grapes but the quality of this Sauvignon Blanc continues to set new benchmarks.
This delicious white comes from the wine region of Marlborough in the north-eastern corner of New Zealand's South Island. There's up-front gooseberry, touches of green pepper and and some elderflower character in there together with a touch of fatness from the oak and a slight dash of Semillon zing. It's very contemporary, very classy and very very cool.
Drink it nice and chilled with a summery salad or a nice fish dish. It's such a special white, it's also really delicious drunk on its own.

Brand Marketing

Quality is our obsession, our hallmark, and our promise. We know making exceptional wines takes acute attention to detail in all aspects of wine production. In the vineyards, our yields are around 30% lower than the regional average. In the winery, we use technology, taste and experience to select only the best grapes for each wine. It might mean fewer bottles, but it always means better wine. Beyond the quality of our wines, we care most about protecting this place we call home. Cloudy Bay is a founding member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. In Central Otago, our vineyards are farmed organically. Selected Estate blocks in Marlborough are trialing organic practices to roll out across the remaining vineyards.

History

Cloudy Bay was established in 1985. After a single sip of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, founder David Hohnen realised New Zealand's potential as a wine region. Cloudy Bay became one of the first five wineries established in Marlborough and is now New Zealand's most recognised winery on the world stage. From the first vintage, Cloudy Bay wines have found international acclaim for their remarkable quality and consistency.

Vinification Details

Fruit from each vineyard ferments separately before blending, a critical step in maintaining Cloudy Bay's famous consistency. Rather than blending to make more wine, the winemakers carefully select the right grapes (from over 90 batches) for each year's wine. This means the quantity may change, but never the quality.
