Flavours of subtle lemon and sweet heather honey sit above a layer of Bowmore's trademark peat smoke, leading into a long and mellow finish whisky. Complex and perfectly balanced, it reflects the rugged landscapes of Islay with its thrashing waves and windswept moors. Aged for 12 years, in some of the finest casks, this single malt Scotch whisky is crafted following a tradition that dates back well over 240 years, when the distillery was first opened. Bowmore 12 is a award-winning whisky, including gold medals at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the 2017 International Spirit Challenge.

Great smooth whisky

This has to be my favourite malt. I received a free sample and enjoyed it neat - no ice and no water! It had a hint of smoke, but not a heavy peat aftertaste like some malts. I would definitely recommend trying this one!

Smooth and floral

This is the first Bowmore Single Malt I have tried and was really glad that I did. It is a a really smooth drop with a pleasant but not overpowering smokiness that some Islay Whiskeys can have and is incredibly drinkable! I would highly recommend this to anyone as first foray into whiskeys, especially single malt Islays as a good starting point.

Beautiful scotch

I'm partial to a great whiskey. I was sent a sample of this whiskey to review but I've actually already bought this one myself previously. Its a really smooth whiskey with hints of smoke and a gentle almost dried fruit undertone. Its great, would recommend as a gift for a whiskey lover or a treat for yourself.

A whisky with a smoky peat aroma and flavour

The Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (aged 12 years) has an attractive smoky peat aroma, but the aroma generally may not be as intense as some other whiskies. The reported lemon aroma is noticeable but is very subtle. When it comes to the flavour and unlike Scotch whiskies from other locations however, the Bowmore Islay Single Malt has a noticeable smoky peat taste (particularly when served neat) and there are very subtle sweet/honey notes - the peat smoky flavour is more dominant, particularly initially. I haven't tried any smoky/peat-flavoured whiskies before but it did taste interesting. Whiskies of this type come from a very small part of Scotland called Islay where they're renowned for this taste. Islay peat is reputedly the best flavoured for scotch production and it's what makes Islay whiskies genuinely special. Would I buy this product for myself, for others as a gift or recommend it to others? Certainly. By purchasing this product you're getting something that comes from both a location and a company that are rich in history, as well as something that could be considered to be a rarity due to its origin and therefore taste - it's unlike other other varieties of Scotch whiskies I've tried from other locations.

Amazing 12 years whisky!

Bowmore signature distillery style of peat smoke, citrus and vanilla. Perfectly balanced at 12 years old. Amazing drink with Coca cola, or even on its own! As taste is so rich and great! This whisky worth every penny! Received as a free product sample program. Highly recommend! 5 of 5 stars.
