More about this product;

You know where you are with this Claret - it's been an absolutely top standard since it was first created in 1930 by winemaker and poet Baron Philippe de Rothschild. A traditional Bordeaux, Mouton Cadet Rouge wine it offers juicy blackcurrant-inspired flavours and an easygoing oakiness.

This wine dates back to 2012, which is an excellent year for Bordeaux - the weather that year created ideal growing conditions for the grapevines, so this is an especially high-quality vintage. This well-rounded Bordeaux is a blend of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc grapes and is aged for six to ten months before it's ready.

A French wine that loves 'le rosbif', pair it with a juicy roast beef joint and a generous portion of Yorkshire pudding.

Brand Marketing

One day, nature's magic turns the juice of grapes into the wines of Bordeaux and its various appellations. The next step is to taste the young wines and decide which ones. Make the best match. It is a joyful yet solemn moment, for the result will be Mouton Cadet.
Created by baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1930, Mouton Cadet is a blend of wines from several appellations in the Bordeaux region, planted with classic grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet Franc).
All our selected wines are made with the respect for the terroir and people and come from our partner winegrowers' vineyards with HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, a label which recognises environment-friendly cultivation practices.

History

The winter of 2019 was very mild and dry until the end of March, followed by a damper-than-average spring, bar May. Rain in June was followed by a particularly sunny July and hot & very dry summer, enabling the vines to produce highly aromatic grapes, full of fruit. The expertise of Baron Philippe de Rothschild's winemakers helped to bring out the best of the 2019 vintage. The very high-quality Merlots display lovely ripe fruit aromas and flavours, while the Cabernets are powerful & beautifully balanced.

Vinification Details

Monitoring of the vineyard and harvest combined with advances in the winemaking and maturing processes have made the wines rounder, smoother and more supple, enriched their texture and given them toasted notes while keeping the ripe red fruit aromas typical of Mouton Cadet.
