Preparation and Usage
How to Cook
Required: 8 tbsps cold water, 1 egg or 100ml milk, mixing bowl, knife.
1 Mix the shortcut pastry mix into a bowl with the cold water, starting with a knife.
2 Once mixed, use your hands to create a firm dough and add more cold water if still crumbly, handling as little as possible to acheive a light, crispy pastry.
3 Roll the pastry out onto a lightly floured surface and follow your recipe.
Finish by beating the egg and using to brush the pastry, or alternatively use milk, before baking.

1 Empty the contents of the sachet into a bowl, there may be lumps of fat, use a wooden spoon to break these down so that you have a smooth consistent mixture.
2 First add the cold water and then using your wooden spoon and then your hands, mix together to create a firm dough. If the pastry is still crumbly, add a little more water. Try to handle the pastry as little as possible as this will help to achieve a light, crisp pastry.
3 Roll the pastry out onto a lightly floured surface and follow your chosen recipe.
4 Finish by beating the egg and brush the pastry with the egg or milk before baking.

really lovely
I use this for all my shortcrust pies. Just add water as per instructions,gently mix and you have lovely crumbly pastry, I like to roll quite thick so it is like suet pastry under the crispy crust.. easy quick and tastes great.
