Spiced Apple Sauce

Serve this classic sauce with a difference at your Christmas dinner.


Instructions

  1. 1 Place 3 large Bramley apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks, 30g unsalted butter, 15g brown sugar, 2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half, 1 tsp ground nutmeg and the juice and grated zest of 1 clementine in a pan.


  2. 2 Bring it to a simmer then lower the heat, cover and cook for about 10 minutes until the apple is tender.


  3. 3 Remove from the heat and stand for 2 hours if you can so the cinnamon infuses. Remove the cinnamon sticks before serving.
