I've had mine about two years now as well as
a second one, similar to this but with much stiffer bristles (that one is wood with cactus bristles). I had both types as a child, and we were always taught to use it, rinse under the hot tap and then shake it dry, blot it with a towel and finally leave it (standing it on it's bristles to give the wood maximum exposure) in a dry place to dry out. These days I also give it a light spray with antibac before setting it down to dry out between uses (usually on the bathroom windowsill above the sink so it's not getting constantly soaked by everyone washing their hands through the day). The only problem I have is that the bristles are too soft on this one.

Ive bought several nail brushes over the years, and expect them to eventually end up mouldy as theyre wood and used with water. This took a matter of hours after being used once. Has ended up in the bin!
