Serious Chardonnay - end of. Wolf Blass's Yellow Label regularly pulls the wool over the eyes of the posh wine critics who mistake it for a much more expensive tipple. And it's easy to see why. The classic melon and peach is all there with a little tropical twist, while the use of French oak adds  creaminess and some sweeter vanilla notes. If you want to know what great Chardonnay tastes like, this Wolf is the pony to bet on. We'd serve it with simple flavours (it was delicious with grilled Haloumi cheese) but just chill and drink with friends - it's an extraordinary wine.

Vinification Details
A warm, dry start to the season brought on rapid, early flowering. After a much-needed rain in January, summer progressed with warm days and relatively cool nights, perfect for ripening. A burst of heat in late January brought on an early, condensed harvest with wines full of flavour and with good natural balance.

Worth the extra wonga

Hints of pineapple. Sploshes of apples and pears. Lemon zest without the stringency. A big wallop of loveliness.

Was good for years

Been drinking this as my general plonk since the 80's. Some years are bad, even though it's an industrial wine... This current lot/year is horrible (2017)
