soft, mushy texture
Dont bother! There are other much better alternatives for veggies out there!
Tried it, didn\x27t like, won\x27t buy it again
To me it had the look of small meat like chunks rather than the minced beef I'm used to seeing. My chilli con carne was really tasty because the Quorn absorbed the flavours of the spices, herbs and seasoning I'd used. I found it soft though, so soft that you could feed to child being weaned on solids without having to puree it. It didn't have the meaty bite that you get when you eat beef mince. I tried it, didn't like it, won't get it again.
Versatile
I love this Quorn product its so versatile and absorbs so much flavour when seasoning is added. Its also very quick to cook!
Wall Insulation Taste Killer
I hate wasting food, but i ended up flushing the last two packets of this down the WC. You know those little polystyrene chips they use for packing? That's what this stuff tastes like. I tried adding flavour, a proper curry sauce, but adding this just ruined it. You end up with `Wall insulation stew'. The Horror, The Horror.
Tasteless
For meat lovers it is completely tasteless! Do not recommend it!
Perfectly acceptable alternative to meat
Years ago I tried a soya mince which none of the family liked. We are not vegetarians but I thought I'd give this mince a go to try to reduce our intake of red meat. The look and texture are really indistinguishable from "real" mince, and I have to say that I can't detect any difference in flavour. However I am using it for chilli and bolognese sauce, both fairly strongly flavoured with herbs and spices, so I don't know whether I'd like it in a Shepherd's Pie or similar. I should add that I don't fry this veggie mince but always include quite a lot of chopped browned onions which might replace the flavour of well browned mince. My husband is a dedicated carnivore and has not noticed yet that he isn't eating meat in these dishes!
