The Great Toastie..
This has always been a big favourite of mine. I have to say though that I made sandwiches with Mothers Pride when I was young and hungry.. and that's where it ends, unless of course you like your sandwiches stodgy and filling. This bread however makes the world's greatest toast. It comes out lovely and crispy if you set your toaster to number one and gradually dry it out over 3 pop-ups instead of once and having it bouncy in the middle. If you like bread and butter pudding it makes it beautifully.. not toasted though
not as bad as I thought it was going to be
After all the negative reviews I thought it was going to be awful but I really enjoyed it. It was bought on a flash sale. I had it toasted . The bread does feel very heavy. Never had this bread before ,I would buy it again. Everyone has different tastes so just buy it, and try for yourself . do not let other peoples opinions influence yours .
A bit disappointed
A plain loaf is a staple in Northern Ireland so had high hopes of actually finding a version on sale here. The one I’m used to is a square batch shape, is great toasted and lasts much longer than a squishy white pan loaf. It goes stale rather than mouldy so makes great stuffing. This loaf however is half the width, is quite dense and the shelf life is only 2 days, expiring the day after delivery and is expensive. It tastes fine, has a good crust and toasted well. Prefer it toasted and it goes great with a boiled egg, pate or cheese on toast. I was a bit disappointed but would probably still buy it again if I got a craving for it.
Brilliant plain bread 😋
None of your soft, squish bread here. Proper crusts too 👍
Even the dog won\x27t eat it.
I thought I was buying bread, not sure what this is. Same weight (800g) as a normal loaf but half the size. After trying the rest went in the bin as even the dog wouldn't eat it.
awful
was really looking forward to this after reviews from Scottish friends. it is horrible, could have used it as doorstop! even the birds wouldn't eat it
