A black beauty, the colour of ink with a full mellow taste of ripe, black fruit. The softness of this rich Italian red makes it the perfect drop to sip alongside bitterly dark chocolate. But it's also great with Sunday roast or any Italian dish.

"This sumptuous Italian red is strong on ripe blackberry and blackcurrant flavours, but silky smooth on the tongue. The tiny Corvina grape is the main ingredient of the Amarone della Valpollicella and it ripens late in the season to take full advantage of the Italian sun, before being dried on wooden mats according to the traditional method. This wine spent plenty of time ageing in oak barrels to create a delightfully soft and mellow wine.
Ideally it should be served at least an hour after opening to really enjoy the fullest flavours. Looking for a great food match? Try it with strongly-flavoured Italian dishes, from your favourite pizza, or a pasta with ragu, to a seriously rich meat stew.
It's also a wine that will improve even further with age, so if you've got somewhere dark and cool to store it, tuck it away for a year or two."
