burnt
This was a substitute, it was burnt all around and wasn't a full size cake, looked as if the sponge hadn't risen!!!
Disappointing
Looks nice but is dry and has very little filling and very little topping - to me the best bits of any cake!
Delicious
Cake was delicious. Still tasted fresh 5 days after it arrived. Just a shame our delivery driver handed it to me on its side. Perhaps cakes should come with a warning for the driver that they need to be removed flat - otherwise what's the point in including them in the delivery - no-one wants a squashed cake.
dry ok with cream
not bad for the price. but ive had many many other shop brought cakes at this price tbat tasted much better and that were moist and delish. This one we ate on the day it arrived and it need a good dollop of cream to make it enjoyable abd not like you're eating a sand pie! yes it was delivered on its side but either the packaging inside or the fact it was already a dry block meant it wasnt noticeable at all. It looks pretty if not unfinished no icing on the sides etc and yes the pic shows 3 layers.... yes.... there is only erm.... well the one layer there is is so thin its unnoticeable. id love to show a real picture then you can decide for yourself if it has enough ganache on the top and sides to make up for it. I would certainly say NO! If the other baker reviewer believes there is well... we have very very diff opinions on the cake to icing ratio! Honestly when its cut open its hard to see the layer and the bit smeared on the middle on the top is 1mm at the sides rising 3mm on top!
Delivered squashed
Trying to get a replacement as this is meant to be my wifes birthday cake! It probably/hopefully is a nice cake. I suggest you make the packaging more robust. I will leave another review if it's replaced and we get to eat it.

omg, does it really matter that the cake has 2 layers instead of 3! yes, it's missing the ganache from the side, but there's plenty on the top and in the middle to make up for that. I normally bake my own cakes but didn't have time on this occasion, so this was a very pleasant substitute. Really tasty, not dry at all, and a good size for £6! People need to have realistic expectations for a cheap shop bought party cake! want better quality, pay 4 times the price and go to a baker!
