Preparation and Usage
Ensure pastry is thoroughly defrosted before use. There are two pastry sheets in this pack. Defrost each sheet as required.
1. Thaw at room temperature: remove the ready rolled sheet(s) from the carton and outer plastic film and leave for 2 1/2 hours. Alternatively thaw overnight in your fridge: remove from packaging and stand at room temperature for at least 10-15 minutes. For best results use immediately.
2. Unrolled the pastry sheet. If your pastry starts to crack on unrolling it is still too cold and should be left to defrost longer.
3. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (200°C for fan assisted ovens)/Gas Mark 7, or at the temperature required in your recipe.

Ingredients
1 x 320g Jus-Rol Puff Pastry Sheet
350g pork sausage meat
1 small apple, cored and chopped
1 small red onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp sage chopped
2 tbsp Hoisin sauce
1 egg beaten
Method
1 Preheat the oven to 220°C (200°C in a fan oven) / Gas mark 7.
2 Mix the sausage meat, apple, onion and sage together in a bowl. Stir until well mixed.
3 Unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut in half down the long side. Place one of the halves of pastry with the long side at the top. Brush one half with 1 tbsp of Hoisin sauce to within 1 cm of the bottom of the long side.
4 Divide the sausage meat mixture in half. Place one half of the sausage meat along the centre of the top side of the pastry in a sausage shape. Bring the top pastry edge back down over the filling and roll up firmly.
5 Brush the bottom edge with the beaten egg, seal the edge underneath the roll.
6 Cut into 4 even lengths and make 3 cuts across the top surface of each roll with a knife.
7 Place apart on the baking tray. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make another 4 sausage rolls.
8 Brush with the beaten egg and bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Keep frozen at -18°C. Do not refreeze once defrosted. Once defrosted use within 24 hours.

We often have this in the freezer, it's a good standby for making tarts - just defrost, unroll, add toppings then oven bake. I recommend pesto tomato and mozzarella or finely sliced courgette, garlic and soft cheese. This brand is genuinely better than all supermarket versions. Instructions say very clearly you should not roll or press the pastry more than unrolling it as it affects the puff pastry layers.
DON’T BUY THIS
Bought this as our store AGAIN! had run out of the block version. Followed instructions and it’s absolutely no good for sausage roll making, it’s soo wet and sticky you can’t get it off the paper. Well is probably useless for anything going on the mess I made. It has two sheets tried something different for the second and it was worse. Don’t buy this. The fresh version is ok but the frozen block I find is best..

Love this light and crispy pastry and it makes amazing sausage rolls. just a by-the-way not all Palm Oil comes from deforestation. There is now100% sustainable Palm Oil certified by PSPO and is used in a lot in the food industry for example Nutella uses 100% sustainable Palm Oil that comes from Palm trees not grown in the rain forests. I would absolutely agree that rain forests should not be burnt away for agriculture but the reviews are supposed to be purely on the how the product tastes or its use and not for political statements. plus you don't actually know where the Palm Oil comes from.

Not only quick and easy but the pastry was really nice. It rose well and tasted really good. Just remember to take out from the freezer well in advance!
