knocks spots of brown ale
brown ale has gone right down the pan and at least this is still made in the north east and has that caramel taste unlike brown ale.

Full flavoured
I used half for a stew and drank the other half. Tasted good to drink with a full flavour and also enhanced the stew very well.

Double Maxim Beer
This is a premium brown ale, at 4.7% ABV. It has a surprising level of bitterness and a good depth of flavour. It's very nice, better suited to a winter evening by the fire than a summer afternoon in the garden and it would be a great accompaniment to food ranging from bread and cheese to a winter stew.
