The first and only one. In 1901, Maxim Ale was first introduced to the North East. Following an increase in strength in 1938, it became known as Double Maxim. This Premium Quality Ale is still famous among discerning drinkers for its well-rounded flavour.

After hearing about this beer on YouTube I gave it a go even though Im not a brown ale man , and Im so glad I did because this is the real deal and puts Newcastle brown ale to shame now its been bought buy Heineken, dont hesitate just buy it I guarantee you will not be disappointed

Lovely beer.

This in on par with how Newcastle Brown used to be before Heineken totally ruined it. This was Sunderland's answer to Newcatle Brown and is a very nice pint indeed.

Quality brown ale

Bitter approach which flips on its head, revealing a caramel malt body, notes of peach, and a smooth, sweet finish

knocks spots of brown ale

brown ale has gone right down the pan and at least this is still made in the north east and has that caramel taste unlike brown ale.
