Walnut & Fig Country Grain Loaf
Use to make your cheese sandwiches just a little more special or a great bread to serve with a cheese board!
Ingredients
500g Allinson Country Grain Bread Flour
1 sachet (7g) Allinson Easy Bake Yeast
300ml Hand-hot Water
150g Chopped Dried Figs
2tbsp Walnut Oil
1tbsp Malt Extract
1tsp Salt
75g Chopped Walnuts
Step 1 - Mix
Place the flour, salt and yeast in a large bowl. Mix together the oil, water and malt extract. Pour into the flour and stir together until a soft dough starts to form.
Step 2 - Knead
Add the figs and walnuts then knead until the dough is elastic.
Step 3 - Shape
Shape into a round and place on a non-stick baking tray. Cut a deep cross in the centre.
Step 4 - Rise
Cover loosely with oiled cling film and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, then remove the cling film. Preheat the oven to 230C/fan 210C/gas mark 8.
Step 5 - Bake
Place the bread in the centre of the pre-heated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 200C/fan 180C/gas mark 6 and bake for a further 15/20 minutes until the bread has risen, is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped underneath.

Really good flour
I used this to make bread rolls in my bread maker. Really tasty with all the different grains inside. The grains are quite soft as well so not the kind of bread to break your teeth on. Really tasty

malty deliciousness
I used this to make a seedy loaf. The dough smelled gorgeous - a bit like Horlicks! The resulting bread was fantastic too: crusty and moist and full of flavour.

Really Lovely Flour i love this, my husband cant usually eat bread as it upsets him this he has no trouble with and he is delighted, i make rolls in the bread maker just the right proportions., they are so tasty i would highly recommend this flour
