I love this Quorn product its so versatile and absorbs so much flavour when seasoning is added. Its also very quick to cook!
Wall Insulation Taste Killer
I hate wasting food, but i ended up flushing the last two packets of this down the WC. You know those little polystyrene chips they use for packing? That's what this stuff tastes like. I tried adding flavour, a proper curry sauce, but adding this just ruined it. You end up with `Wall insulation stew'. The Horror, The Horror.
For meat lovers it is completely tasteless! Do not recommend it!
Perfectly acceptable alternative to meat
Years ago I tried a soya mince which none of the family liked. We are not vegetarians but I thought I'd give this mince a go to try to reduce our intake of red meat. The look and texture are really indistinguishable from "real" mince, and I have to say that I can't detect any difference in flavour. However I am using it for chilli and bolognese sauce, both fairly strongly flavoured with herbs and spices, so I don't know whether I'd like it in a Shepherd's Pie or similar. I should add that I don't fry this veggie mince but always include quite a lot of chopped browned onions which might replace the flavour of well browned mince. My husband is a dedicated carnivore and has not noticed yet that he isn't eating meat in these dishes!
