Pre-heat your oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5. Remove all packaging. Place chicken in a roasting tin. Place in the oven and cook for 40 minutes per kilo, plus 30 minutes, basting occasionally (refer to guidelines on front of label). Cover with foil towards end of cooking time if skin is starting to brown. To check the chicken is fully cooked, insert a skewer into the thickest part of the thigh. If juices run clear the chicken is ready. If the juices are pink return to the oven for a further 30 minutes and test again. Serve and enjoy.

Used to love Morrisons fresh chickens but this is the third one I have brought in the last six months that has been off before the date on the packaging. Another ruined Sunday roast and obviously I'm not the only one having this happen.
Good if purchased in store
Ive given up on fresh meat being delivered, but find if purchased in store its a good tasting bird.
Had many times with no problems
We've had these chicken's many time with no problems. Always tasty. We had to start getting the larger one now our children are getting bigger and eating more. Ordered one this week for Sunday roast, yum.
As another customer has stated when this chicken was opened it smelt awful and found itself straight in the bin. The date on the packaging was well within its use by date and yet it was not fit for consumption. Certainly won't be purchasing this again!
What on earth is going on with Morrisons chickens? First, there was a problem with the chicken breasts and now I have had to throw a 1.7kg whole one in the bin despite the fact it had a use by date 6 days in the future. Another one bought to cook at the same time, but weighing 1.4kg with a use by date 3 days hence, was likewise rotten. The smell when I opened them permeated the whole house and I gutted the fridge and cleaned it and the wrappings of everything in it. OK - I have been promised a refund, but this really is appalling. In the interests of customer goodwill, it would be responsible if an email of explanation were sent, or - better - posted online explaining just why this has happened and what measures are to be taken to avoid a repetition.
I usually buy 1 whole chicken a week but after the last one I don't think I'll bother. As soon as I opened it, it smelt absolutely horrendous. It went straight in the bin. Considering it was delivered to my door, I'm absolutely appalled at the standard of it.
