I rarely buy from The Best range, the standard range of Morrison’s food is so good I felt no need to pay more for The Best. I tried this recently for the first time because what I wanted was out of stock—and I was surprised to find that there really was a difference between this and Morrisons standard lasagne. I found the proportions of meat:pasta:sauce to be just right, and the flavour of the minced-beef in the ragu came through well. Being enhanced by the herbs it had a really deep, satisfying flavour and good texture. Previous brands I’ve tried seemed to rely on chunks of onion floating in watery gravy for the little flavour they had—it was a delightful surprise to find this lasagna was nothing like those (thankfully). The mince had a proper, home made texture instead of the almost puréed texture in others. The pasta was cooked just right, the béchamel sauce between the layers was rich, creamy and seasoned well; thick enough to coat the pasta layers without the reminding me of wallpaper paste. I loved that it was not full of bits of onion, but above all I loved that my house didn’t stink of stale onions the next day. I’ll still buy Morrisons standard lasagne because it’s lovely, but this is going to be our little treat once in a while.
The best shop bought lasagne I have ever tasted. Definately on my favourites list
Doesn’t resemble lasagne!
Basically cottage pie with lasagne and a white sauce to kid you it’s a lasagne. Doesn’t have as far as I’m concerned have any Italian flavourings at all, can’t taste tomato, herbs, garlic or anything, really bland, actually forget the lasagne and the Bechamel sauce and put mashed potato on top and then you would have something resembling a cottage pie! Sorry, but I must admit that I’ve not been impressed with any Morrison’s ready meals, even more so the ones labelled The Best, very disappointing. I’m not a person that buys ready meals in general from anywhere except on the odd occasion but I definitely won’t be giving Morrison’s another try, sorry!
Better than standard
Lasagne's are tricky things. Buying is even worse as most are slop between pasta. However, this one is different. Good taste and good filling means, whilst it's not quite home quality, it's ten times better than a standard Findus one
Very nice lasagne, I have bought many times and never had a complaint, I highly recommend for a quick and easy meal
ready made lasagne
best lasagne I have had delicious what more can I say
