Stinks and taste of ammonia
In over half a century I have never tasted fish tasting of ammonia. Is Morrison trying to poison consumers? The opaque water leaked in the plastic bag and all over our floors. Very often fresh meat and fish is delivered with defective packaging. Please take more care Morrisons
Ive ordered this fish a few times but twice its been bad/off. Most recently I could smell it when the delivery driver was at the door!
I cooked this on the day I bought it and was pleasantly surprised by how fresh it was. I battered it -with gluten free batter- and deep fried it and felt like I was eating fish by the sea. No fishy smells like other reviewers.
NAUSEA FOR AMMONIA SMELL
SIMPLY HORRIBLE! Bought two in one online order. Steamed first one and once I opened the lid a strong ammonia smell inundated my apartment! Directly to the bin! Next day tried the other one and ammonia smell was so strong I got nausea! Another day of stinky ammonia apartment! Fish to the bin, money wasted and having to rush a last minute dinner -fish was meant to solve a lack of time issue in a healthy way!-. This happened before with some ray I bought, so I guess it is a common practice; funny thing is that if I had battered and fried it as most of people would, I may have not realised I was eating heavily ammonia treated fish...
This cod was slimy and had a strong fishy smell. I was told it was fresh but if it was it shouldn't smell fishy so I am told. I couldn't bring myself to eat it so I chucked it away. The cod I have bought here in the past has been pretty good to be fair.
I normally buy cod loin but on this occasions the loin was on the smaller side so I went for fillet on the fish mongers advise who trimmed fillet to my liking and also skinned for me. Perfectly fresh and kept its freshness in my fridge until I used the following day. Another good fresh product from Morrison
