Wouldn't buy again
I have had the best Bakewell tarts and after trying these I can say I have had the worst
Thick pastry, not a lot of almond flavour
These tarts look very pretty but the pastry was over half an inch thick and not easy to bite through. Inside there is a block of sponge tasting vaguely of almond topped with a hard thick wodge of icing. There's a smear of jam at the bottom but this is still not a nice bakewell.
I thought Bakewell Tarts had Almond sponge? Mine do when I make them! these are tasty, nice sponge (if not a bit dry) and the jam is lovely, plus a good layer of icing. But no Almonds. Don't even think they appear in the ingredients list!
Best Cherry Bakewell tarts
Tried these for the first time yesterday - lots of sponge and less icing on top make a much nicer tart than other brands I have tried. Will be buying these in future.
not very good
very dry and no almond taste
Best Bakewell Tarts by a mile!
Among the best Bakewell Tarts I have ever tasted. Pastry case is spot-on (most Morrisons pasty is), the jam is delicious, sponge is nicely flavoured and I love the stiff icing. Clearly the reviewer who likened them to Satans toenails is a devil worshiper and therefore, was implying that the Bakewells are great.
