Usually top notch but last joint was fatty and had a thick line of gristle . Part of the joint looked very unappetising and quite frankly I was reluctant to eat it
Mostly good but not always
I've bought this a few times and always been very good until the last purchase. The last one had so much sinew that half of it had to be thrown out, but you can't tell until you start carving. I'm beginning to think one of Morrison's butcher's needs sacking. If you get a joint by one of the other butchers fine but get a joint from the bad butcher and your luck's out.
usually this is lovely but this time whoever butchered this piece needs sacking , it was awful , very disappointed when you have to throw half of it away because its that bad.
Learn how to cook beef
I have been buying this beef from Morrisons for about 3 years now, not once have I had a bad joint of beef. I cook my beef rare as that's how our family like it, I cook the beef for 14 minutes per pound, 20 minutes at 240C, then reduce temperature to 180C for the rest of the cooking time. People make the mistake of over cooking beef, it makes it tough as old boots. Cook your beef rare, leave it to stand for 30 minutes before carving, you simply can't go wrong. I simply do not understand the negative comments on here, maybe they have no idea how to cook.
Looked fine, but far too small !
Unlike previous reviewer I could & did order the 1 kg size, which the website clearly states will cost "from £7.99". Should be JUST enough for us 3 adults. The beef we received looked ok but VERY small, label clearly states its less than 3/4 kg. Interestingly the driver noticed his handheld scanner called it a "1 kg" size. We've since been refunded £6.29 , not £7.99, which says it all. Sadly we now have Yorkshire pud in our small freezer that also came from Morrisons today, but now have to drive to town JUST to buy some beef too. Previously high standards of Morrisons appear to us to be falling in all respects these last few deliveries....
