This chicken arrived looking not so fresh, but I cooked it anyway because it didnt smell bad. And Im so glad I did. The meat was juicy and tasty and its actually not easy to find organic chicken that is tender when cooked!! Will definitely buy again.
I buy these every week, roast or casserole them, and have never found them tough, but like another reviewer pointed out, they are not mushy either as the free range chickens have strong muscles! I roast both, feed myself and toddler a dinner out if the first leg, save one for sandwiches or salad, and freeze the leftover bones until I have enough to make organic bone broth. Used like this they go a very long way! Oh yes... when roasted there are always plenty of meat juices to pour into our little gravy jug to enhance the flavour.
One of the other reviewers said the meat was tough.
Organic free range chickens have daily access to the outside world where they run around all day, so their muscles are much stronger, just how they should be. If you want soft mushy chicken, stick to the cruel factory farmed stuff.
