Preparation and Usage
Rinse and drain well. Cover with fresh water, bring to the boil and simmer for 15 - 20 minutes until tender.
Perfect for dals, soups and casseroles.
250g KTC Red Lentils
3 tbsp KTC Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp KTC Cumin Seeds
1 small onion, chopped
Chopped green chillies to taste
2 tsp KTC Minced Ginger and Garlic
200g KTC Chopped Tomatoes
3/4 tsp KTC Turmeric Powder
3/4 tsp KTC Garam Masala
1 1/2 tsp KTC Coriander Powder
Salt to taste
Freshly chopped coriander to taste
Cook the dal as per instructions. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat, add cumin seeds and fry for 30 seconds till fragrant. Add onion, chillies, ginger & garlic; fry till golden brown. Add the tomatoes and remaining spices, stir well and simmer for 15 - 20 minutes. Add cooked lentils, stir and bring to the boil. Season to taste.
Serve with roti or rice.

Once opened store in a cool, dry place, in an airtight container. Use within 6 months of opening.

Lovely taste and reasonably priced
I love lentils and these are very tasty. They are also reasonably priced which is important if like me you are on a budget. A bag lasts a relatively long time and they cook quickly without pre-soaking. They need to be rinsed out first though. They are great in a soup or for a dahl.
