Storage
Once opened store in a cool, dry place, in an airtight container. Use within 6 months of opening.
Preparation and Usage
Instructions:
Soak in water for at least 12 hours, rinse thoroughly and drain. Cover with fresh water, bring to the boil and simmer for 30 - 40 minutes or until tender.

Versatile, sweet and smooth, this delicious lentil may be enjoyed in a spicy soup or cooked dry with a traditional masala.
Recipes
Brown Lentil Soup
Serves 4

Ingredients:
300g KTC Brown Lentils
1 tbsp KTC Sunflower Oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp KTC Minced Ginger & Garlic
20g KTC Creamed Coconut
1 tsp cinnamon powder
4 whole black peppercorns
Green chillies to taste, finely chopped
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp KTC Curry Powder

Directions:
Cook the lentils as per instructions. Grind together the onion, garlic, ginger, creamed coconut, cinnamon, peppercorns, salt, curry powder and green chillies into a fine paste. Add this paste to the lentils and stir in well whilst bringing to the boil. Simmer for 5 minutes then remove from the heat. In a separate pan, heat the oil and add the mustard seeds. When they start to crackle, pour into the pot of lentils. Serve with rice, roti or naan.

Not easy to find brown lentils, a great and super tasty product, takes a bit longer to cook though
